Children Ministries

Children are our future! At Hope we offer many opportunities to teach children about what it means to become a Christian, leading them to Jesus’ transforming love.

Contact Josh Funk, Director of Youth and Children's Discipleship, with any questions.

Children’s Church – Sundays concurrent with the 11:00 am service, the children 5th grade and younger are offered a program just for them! At Hope, children will have the opportunity to learn the timeless truths of the
Bible in appropriate age level classes with a common curriculum that spans
from our youngest in the nursery up through the 8th grade. The eight foundations we hope every child will understand are: Who is God, Who is Jesus, Who is the Holy Spirit, What is salvation, What is the Bible, How does the Old Testament relate to the New Testament, Spiritual disciplines (like prayer and worship) and How to share their faith with others.

Teachers for the different age groups are:
Nursery/Toddler - Valerie Delauter
Preschool (ages 3, 4, 5) - Kelly Elton and Angela D'Amore
Kindergarten/First Grade - Lorrie Nicely and TBA
Second/Third Grade - Pam Eckel and Phil Leidigh
Fourth/Fifth Grade - Lisa Yoder and Brian & Julie Cummins
Junior High (grades 6, 7, 8) - Tim Brown and Josh Funk

Vacation Bible School – VBS is a community collaboration and rotates each summer between Hope United Methodist and Community of Christ Lutheran. VBS is open to all children in our community and is an exciting time of high-energy activity and singing!

Cub and Boy Scouts – Hope Church is honored to be the sponsoring church for the Whitehouse area Boy Scout and Cub Scout program. The scouts meet at the church multiple nights a week and hold annual events like the Pine Wood Derby and annual awards ceremonies in the Christian Life Center. Contact Clif Vaughan with any questions.

Cherub Choir – Our littlest singers (pre-K, K, 1st) can stretch their vocal chords by being involved in the Cherub Choir. The choir practices on Sundays during Children’s Church and sings every 2nd Sunday for the 11:00 am service. Contact Pat Hooks with questions.

The Potentials – Kids a bit older than the cherubs can offer their musical talents through The Potentials. This band is made up of youngsters 2nd through 8th grades often writes and then performs their own music! A great way for kids to offer budding musical gifts! The Potentials practice the 4th Sunday of each month. Contact Tim Brown with questions.

Camperships – Some of the most formative Christian times for kids are when they head out to Church Camp. Hope Church offers many scholarships (called camperships), sponsored by the Hope church members, to financially assist any child who wishes to go to camp.
