Christmas from the Backside
Our Advent Bible study this year will be based upon J. Ellsworth Kalas' book, Christmas from the Backside: A Different Look at the Story of Jesus' Birth. In this study we will open up new possibilities of insight into the Biblical Christmas story of Jesus' birth by entering the Gospel scriptures through the "back side" -- through a unique starting point, a creative retellilng, a new "lens," or the eyes of a minor or unsympathetic character.
With chapter titles: "The Scandal of Christmas," "Three Votes for an Early Christmas," "Christmas Comes to a Back Fence," "Celebrating Christmas in a Hotel," "How the Government Helped the First Christmas Happen," "Christmas and the Impossible Dream," and "Christmas Comes to a Church" Christmas from the Backside looks at this wonderful and familiar story in a fresh and enlightening way.
Classes will be held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
