ABOUT HOPE

About Hope

OUR MISSION (The reason we exist as a church)
“The mission of Hope United Methodist Church is to lead people to the transforming love of Jesus Christ.”

OUR VISION (The results of successfully implementing our mission)
Our vision is to help people grow toward maturity in their faith in Christ and serve Him through their prayers, their worship, their giving, and their service.

CHRIST-CENTERED MINISTRY: Everything we do must face the test of WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?) .
(Philippians 2:5) “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:”

FOUNDATION OF PRAYER: Prayer is the foundation for our relationship with Jesus Christ, and through prayer we turn over our hearts and minds to God. We are committed to a consistent prayer life where we lift up our people and our programs.
(Philippians 4:6) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

LOVE ONE ANOTHER: We will accept each person as a valued child of God.
(Matthew 22:37-39) “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ {38} This is the first and greatest commandment. {39} And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

TEAM APPROACH: We will work together in a supporting, sharing, and encouraging environment .
(1 Thessalonians 5:11) “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE: We will look to the authority of Scripture to equip men and women and children for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

LOST PEOPLE MATTER: Using Jesus Christ as our example, we will reach out to those who have not found his transformational love.
(Luke 19:10) “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

SETTING UP VOLUNTEERS TO SUCCEED: We will provide lay members with the support and tools to successfully complete the tasks at hand, and feel joy when a project or job is complete.
(Mark 10:45) “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””

ACTIVE LEARNING: We will teach and lead through scripture and Christ-centered and Holy Spirit directed guidance. We will encourage all to turn these learning experiences into action by incorporating lessons into their daily lives.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
